A Sea Change
As I contemplated how President Trump 47 will tackle injustice throughout America, I realize it is a tall order. The problems of rampant injustice, where people have been mistreated, rights violated, privacy and security undermined, health compromised, wealth stolen, and identity eviscerated, are so widespread they are almost ubiquitous.
I can see symptoms of corruption and distortion in almost every major institution: starting with schools, then healthcare, and on to hiring practices. Once any process gets compromised, such as hiring, educating or treating peoples ills, all hell breaks loose. Over time, those contaminated processes affect everything around them.
Since the turn of the century, we have serious problems of incompetence in every major institution in America.
The evidence keeps piling up, and the problems keep growing exponentially. Americans are so distracted by their affluence and fondness for entertaining themselves, that they are letting the fruit of our world hegemony, the great wealth and opulence we have acquired, to fall off the tree. To rot on the ground and be eaten by larvae.
Our competitors, the Europeans who have hated us since 1876, the Russians who lost the Cold War to us, the Asians that consider everyone else to be inferior, and the Middle Easterners, who have been conducting a Religious Jihad against anything un-Islamic for thousands of years, are noticing the rust accumulating on The Ship of Our State.
We are at war again, except for the last two decades we weren't engaged. We were the opposite: we were asleep at the wheel. Our enemies are smart enough to know, don't wake the Sleeping Giant! Better to pretend to be working partners, to be sharing secrets, to be uniting the World! Better to lull your enemies with pseudo friendship, with coalitions of the like minded, with promises of a better future by forming a New World Order…
I knew back in the early 60's that the schools were teaching false history. They were indoctrinating, not educating. I knew instinctively that the assassination of JFK was a hit job. As a 13 year-old, I was knowledgeable enough to see the obvious pattern of using a patsy murderer, then executing him with another patsy, was the signature of the Mafia.
My science classes were telling us that man evolved from monkeys. So why are there still monkeys? Apparently some were absent when they passed out the updated software.
In order to get a better grade (to help me get the opportunity to go to college, so I wouldn't be subject to the Vietnam War draft) I had to adopt the POV of my teachers. They didn't appreciate spirited debate because it interfered with their program.
At 16, our family MD told me (1966) my cholesterol was too high. I needed to watch what I ate because high cholesterol could cause heart disease. It was at 230. Five decades later my cholesterol was 235, and my MD told me I needed to be put on a statin drug (for the rest of my life) to protect me from premature death due to stroke. I realized another pattern was emerging: legalized drug dealing! The Modern Day Medicine Man, the Pied Piper of Drug Dependency was Big Pharma. Not only was it legal, it was SOP.
For decades I have watched my friends and family become addicts to numerous drug protocols. All around blood pressure, diabetes and blood sugar, weight control, anxiety, cholesterol, allergies, attention disorders and of course the big one, PAIN.
That same year (1968) I went to Bank of America and started a checking account. I was working part time so I needed to save money for a better car.
When I started shopping for a new car I went into the bank and filled out a loan application. A few days later they sent me a letter of approval. About six weeks later I found a used car I wanted and went back to get the loan set up. The loan officer said my approval had expired (after 30 days) and I would have to start a new process. That it would take a few days to get processed again.
The car I wanted would certainly be gone by then and so I went to the teller window and withdrew my money and closed my account. Then I walked over to the loan officer and said, "Thanks for nothing! How can you run a business that fails to serve your customer?"
Virtually every experience I have had with Big Finance, Big Business, or Big Government since, has taught me the same lesson: They don't operate to serve the customer. They operate to serve themselves, period.
OK, I'm a Capitalist, but the premise of Capitalism is to provide a service and make a profit on it. Win/Win…
But what happens when that service is corrupted? When the provider realizes they have a monopoly on something you need, so they can then dictate what that service actually is? They have redefined the term "service" and you have become a patron, not a customer.
If you extrapolate that "evolution" or warping of the Capitalist process, you will see it has infected just about every aspect of American life. We are no longer the customer to these institutions. We are now patrons of the arts: we voluntarily give our "support" to these institutions or conglomerates, because we trust them. And, we don't really have any choice. If we want healthcare, we have to own insurance (where the provider sets all the rules). If we want financial "services" we have to submit every detail of our private life on an application, so they can give us access to our own money, and then we pay them for their "service".
Then they sell that personal data to another "service"organization so they can track you down and solicit you to patronize their solutions to the problems they defined for you!
As I grew older another sinister pattern emerged: These institutions propagate themselves, expand their influence, and increase your dependency on them, by creating a problem for you, then selling you their "custom designed" solution.
It is being taught in our educational system as Marketing 101: Don't just fill a need, create it first. Then immortalize it, so the consumer is addicted to your solution. Oh, don't forget to redefine the problem, that way you can also define the solution. More language, less process, more transactions!
The best and most insidious of these offenders is Big Tech. Bill Gates invented the programming for the newly developed laptop computer. As the influence of the device spread like a virus, he reasoned people will need to constantly improve their machines abilities. So the programming would need to be updated regularly. An opportunity to solve a problem: one that could actually be programmed into the program. Planned Obsolescence!
That invention alone changed the world more than the invention of the wheel, the airplane, the telephone or the television. When applied to virtually any consumer product, it became "consumable" and therefore a repeatable transaction that the patron thinks is their own idea and is eager to buy.
Think about it: whether it is personal electronic devices, transportation, medicine, money, or education, every large segment of society is now operating on the same formula, Planned Obsolescence. Customers must frequently reestablish their membership in the approved group. They must make regular payments, buy auxiliary products, share information and play by the providers rules.
Isn't that exactly how Southern Plantations treated their slaves? Except in this scenario, the patron can hardly wait for the Next Solution (i.e., cellphone, laptop, video game, SUV, smart home, boob job or hair implant). It is modern version of slavery with eager beaver slaves paying their own way! How good is that?
So how will the 47th President tackle this incipient disease? What will he prescribe for the patient?
He is confronted with a reckoning: to release a worldwide pandemic of justice. To infect every person on Earth with a renewed appetite for liberty and the pursuit of justice. To inject their lives with an elixir of high energy to relentlessly demand honesty and integrity in our society.
What makes that question much more terrifying is that this condition isn't endemic to America. It has been festering around the World much longer than here in the USA. That is because the disease itself is a residual of collectivism. The scourge of Communism under the disguise of many authoritarian identities, has produced the same intellectual laziness, corrupted educational systems, established a mindset of misinformed certitude and self destructive tendencies as we are just now coming to understand is ubiquitous to our culture.
When hundreds of our children are committing suicide every day, when hundreds of thousands of them simply disappear every year, and nothing is being done about it, it should be obvious our society is very sick.
So Trump is up against something more dangerous than Adolf Hitler's plan to homogenize the World's population. He will have to confront not just a madman and his army, but a enormous population of Social Justice Warriors, the Soldiers of Pretense, the Zombies of Intellectual Mismanagement and Psychologically Damaged Souls that think of themselves as Angels of God, and the social disease they have caused.
Whether by luck or design, he has one thing working for him: a Sea Change In Perception.
Since the 2020 election, when the opposition party was so successful in painting him as a selfish authoritarian zealot who would subvert our constitution just to make himself more famous and rich, who nearly put him in jail, who twisted every accomplishment of his 45 term into some sort of crime against humanity, he is witnessing a surge in patriotism. A renewed interest in the noble history of Freedom, and millions of people all around the World are beginning to embrace his vision of a better future for themselves and their children yet unborn.
