What caused the 2020 Presidential election to become such a turning point in the corruption of our Democratic Republic? Was everything hunky dory before that? Was our voting system and the results of a hundred years of building the Washington Beltway Brotherhood always an illusion of democracy?
It seems rather implausible to suggest everything went sideways just because Donald Trump was a candidate. Remember when G W and Al Gore waited for over a month to settle the 2000 Presidential election? That conflict was over Florida's electoral votes which would eventually settle the election, giving Bush the Presidency by only 5 electoral votes. It had to be decided by a Supreme Court ruling disallowing the Florida Supreme courts ruling that would have changed the number of contested votes from being counted because Florida state law conflicted with Federal law concerning the "equal protection" statutes.
Democrats were outraged! They claimed the conservative SCOTUS judges ignored the constitutional provisions that not only allow states to create and enforce their own voting laws, but that the Constitution requires it. Once again, as has been the overwhelming legacy of American civil conflict, the battle was over states rights. As with the Civil War, the Democrats demanded it, while the Republicans depended on Federal controls.
Contrast that with the 2020 election conflict. On January 6th, 2021, it was estimated that over 1M demonstrators marched through the streets of Washington DC, onto the Capitol Building Steps, to protest what they considered a corrupted election process. They were demanding Congress allow some States electoral college votes not be certified until a proper investigation and potential recount (due to election inconsistencies, electronic voting machine anomalies and possible political shenanigans) could be concluded. They cited the 2000 election process as precedent.
The Trump/MAGA supporting demonstrators were furious because the Senate's electoral vote certification disallowed any States requests for delay and proceeding to certify the election results without any investigation whatsoever!
In Republican minds, Trump's rights were being pushed aside in favor of ignoring some States violations of their own normal voting rules, many of which had been illegally modified in direct response to the Covid Pandemic mandates which theoretically interfered with voter access and turnout. The protesters were supporting States Rights, but only in so much as they had a right to ask for a recount. Arizona had already made such a formal request.
The Trump position was that too many states had established voting procedures that were wildly out of line with federal law, that violated privacy and equal protection laws.
That allowing voters to register without personal identification, signatures, verified residential addresses, and to submit ballots through proxy, were all violations of normal State and Federal "fairness" laws.
This time it was the Republicans turn to be outraged!
But the ensuing riots on the Capitol Steps completely overwhelmed any credibility the "Stop The Steal" protesters had. And the compliant and influential Mockingbird Media had a field day with videos of violence!
The point is, after that massively consequential event, the potential for Trump to ever run again seemed faint. From that point on, the newly empowered Progressive Jihad kicked into high gear. It had been 20 years since Gore was humiliated, since the Republicans had used the legal system to capture the White House, and now, after Democrats had to endure the humiliation of Trump 45, their Party was sitting in the Pilots Seat. And all during that 20 year period, Democrats had been grooming the judiciary as Co-Pilots.
They had turned the legal tables on the Trump "Fascists" and they were going to exact revenge!
I do not want to relive the litany of criminal actions the Progressives took to try to destroy Donald Trump and any remnants of his MAGA Movement: we all watched in horror. The lawsuits, the indictments, the articles of impeachment (after he left office!), the invasions of privacy, illegal searches and seizures, the coordinated abandonment of security operations to protect former Presidents, the coordinated media assaults on reputation, the legal assaults on former employees, and of course the incredibly abhorrent disregards for constitutional rights of J6th protesters who were arrested, imprisoned without any normal legal protections, then held incommunicado for years!
If all of that were not enough motivation to drive any fair minded individual insane, add in Biden's dumpster fire of misdirected legislation, of dangerous foreign and military policies, some of which ended the lives of innocent service members. And the increasingly foreboding interference by an ideologically corrupt judiciary! Toss in the continuing spending of vast amounts of money for crazy DEI, LGBTQ programs, the endless war in Ukraine and pro-Hamas quagmires in foreign countries, and you have a national case of a dissociative disorder.
Meantime, Donald Trump was hunkering down in Palm Beach Florida, contemplating his response tactics. It has always been important for him to confront bullies. To hit back when attacked. To out-think his opponents, because that comes so easy for him. And in this case, his opponents are just too dumb to understand the quicksand they were staggering into…
But there other major reasons the election process has been undermined. In February 2010, the Supreme Court struck down the decades-old federal ban on independent expenditures by corporations (and unions) to influence federal elections (Citizens United v. FEC.). Corporations and unions are allowed to spend their treasury funds on advertisements expressly advocating the election or defeat of a candidate for the first time in over 60 years. Suddenly, political parties were corporatized. The whole election process was turning into a business, not a civil proceeding.
Vermont's Senator John Kennedy summed it up:
“And so, this tsunami of corporate money began flowing into the Republican and Democratic parties, and it was BlackRock, State Street, Vanguard, the pharmaceutical companies, the military-industrial complex. The Democratic Party completely forgot its relationship with labor. The Democratic Party, when I was growing up, was cops, firefighters, auto workers, factory workers. They completely sold them out with these trade bills. And the labor movement has been crushed. They don't even stand up for Amazon drivers. You know, Amazon or Uber drivers. Democrats don't care about that stuff anymore. They used to be labor-oriented, right? And they became completely corporate.”
In addition, the lure of exerting more influence to help business was great:
".. the anonymity provided by certain tax-exempt vehicles and little risk of backlash from consumers or shareholders, corporate executives are feeling freer to act on their perceived economic and ideological interests and to spend corporate funds—rather than money from their own pocket—to support business-friendly candidates." -- Campaign Legal Center
Don't think for a second the Republican Party was exempt from undue influences. The immense inflow of corporate cash explains why so many RINO Republicans continue to impugn Trump and MAGA. It is counter-intuitive because Trump is winning support from widespread interests that the GOP never even tried to win over.
And that alone motivates The Donald. The corporate influence phenomenon pushes the voter to subjugate their national interests over international pressures: Slave rates will always be lower than domestic rates, but at what cost to our nation's health?
Resurrecting a sense of nationalist allegiance is the key to returning our sovereignty.
And that goes for other nations too. The illusion that the World would be better off if we were One World Order ignores the reality of the Order element. Who then would provide the slave labor the Chinese Communist Party is currently providing? Who would decide what population fishes the oceans, herds the cattle, delivers the goods by land and by sea? Who would sit in the Halls of Justice?
One person? One committee? One tribunal?
Or do we return to the best system of government ever invested, and repair our weak spots? We have the power in our hands and now we have the "lever" to pull to get the job done.
Do we Americans have the motivation?
